Caitlin, The Forces Employment Charity

The Forces Employment Charity

Caitlin Barker is married to a British Royal Air Force (RAF) veteran. She explained that “as a non-British spouse translating my Canadian experience to something that was understandable by the civilian sector was a massive challenge for me. I was also faced with the challenge of translating my Canadian resume into a British CV. I had submitted CVs previously and wouldn’t even get a response.”

Caitlin turned to the Forces Employment Charity, where she received assistance from the Families and TechVets Programmes to address her unique needs. Our dedicated advisor built clarity about British employment practices, translated Caitlin’s military experience into civilian terms, and refined her CV to align with industry standards. Since embarking on her employment journey with our charity, Caitlin has secured full-time employment in health and social care, her desired sector.

Cailtin said: “It was invaluable to me to relate to an advisor who was also a foreign spouse. She had firsthand knowledge and experience of what I was facing, and knew precisely how to help me. I truly believe I wouldn’t have been as successful as I was without her unique perspective.”
